Jeannie Clarke MA

I am a figurative artist working in the field of contemporary dance. I create monumental large-scale monochrome canvases of dancers in motion. For many years I was a professional muralist working to commission and became proficient in many styles including Trompe l’oeil, in which forensic accuracy of every detail is key and there is no room for manoeuvre - control is everything.  My work with dancers now comes from the other end of the spectrum. I paint at speed, underpinned by a strong sense of composition and anatomical correctness and embrace qualities of chance and possibility.

I am currently Associate Visual Artist with Jasmin Vardimon Dance in Ashford, Kent, which affords me the freedom to study dancers at close hand as they prepare for performance.
